A Monarch is born during a spectacular sunny afternoon on April 20, 2013 in the Centerpointe neighborhood of League City, Texas.
The video frame position does not change, so you can see just how fast the wings expand. Rhythmic contractions of its abdomen are visible as fluid pumps from it to the wings. By the end of this 10-minute sequence, the wings extend beyond the lower edge of the field of view.
